What is the Azure certification path?
The Azure certification path starts with AZ-900 (Fundamentals) for anyone new to cloud concepts, moves to Associate-level exams like AZ-104 (Administrator), AZ-500 (Security), or AZ-700 (Networking) depending on your specialty, and ends at Expert-level exams like AZ-305 (Solutions Architect) or AZ-400 (DevOps).
Do I need AZ-900 before AZ-104?
AZ-900 is not a formal prerequisite for AZ-104, but it is recommended if you are new to Azure. If you already have hands-on Azure administration experience, you can go straight to AZ-104.
Which Azure certification should I get first?
If you have no cloud background, start with AZ-900 (Azure Fundamentals). If you already administer Azure resources day-to-day, AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) is the more valuable first Associate-level credential.
What comes after AZ-104?
After AZ-104, most administrators move to a specialty Associate exam (AZ-500 for security, AZ-700 for networking, AZ-140 for virtual desktop) or the Expert-level AZ-305 Solutions Architect exam.
