AB-330 Study Guide 2026: Beta Exam Prep and Plan

Implementing AI-Powered Supply Chain Operations with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, read against the MB-330 credential most candidates compare it with.

TL;DR

Microsoft AB-330 (Implementing AI-Powered Supply Chain Operations with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management) is a beta Associate exam for the Supply Chain Management AI Consultant Associate credential, passing at 700. It measures six process areas, and source to pay (30-35%), inventory to deliver (20-25%) and order to cash (20-25%) carry most of the weight. See the six weighted domainsfor the breakdown. Beta exams are not scored immediately, and Microsoft's practice assessment is not available yet. Plan about 30 hours, front-loaded on procurement and warehouse setup.

Beta status, checked 2026-10-26. Both the exam and the credential are labeled beta on Microsoft Learn. Microsoft's credential page says beta exams are not scored immediately while Microsoft gathers data on question quality. Objectives and weights can change when the exam leaves beta, so recheck the official study guide before you book.

AB-330 or MB-330: Which Supply Chain Credential Fits Your Role?

Both credentials target a Functional Consultant at the Intermediate level, so the real difference is scope and framing. AB-330 groups its skills into six end-to-end process areas and lists Microsoft Copilot among its products. MB-330, the Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant credential, describes a broader feature list. Neither page tells you to take one before the other.

Sources: Microsoft Learn's AB-330 credential page, AB-330 study guide and MB-330 page, all checked 2026-10-26. We did not compare the two exams' domain weights.

The AB-330 study guide states that the bullets under each skill illustrate how a skill is assessed and that related topics may be covered. So treat the gap between the two lists as a reading aid. If you hold MB-330 knowledge, you already know the vocabulary for products, procurement, warehousing and planning, and your hours go to the process-level configuration the AB-330 bullets spell out, such as costing versions, unified pricing, intercompany orders and quarantine handling. If you are starting from neither, the MB-330 study guide is a reasonable broad primer, and the MB-330 overview shows its scope side by side.

One more observation from the skills list itself: none of the AB-330 bullets names a Copilot feature. The AI framing shows up in the credential title and product list, while the measured skills read as classic Supply Chain Management configuration. We would not rely on that staying true after beta, which is another reason to recheck the study guide near your exam date.

What Microsoft Says the AB-330 Candidate Does

Which AB-330 Process Areas Carry the Most Weight?

Source to pay carries the most weight at 30-35%, followed by inventory to deliver and order to cash at 20-25% each. Design to retire is 5-10%, while forecast to plan and plan to produce are each 1-5%. Together the first three areas account for roughly three quarters of the exam at the midpoints.

Microsoft lists the areas alphabetically. Ranked by weight, the order of effort looks different, and the notes below say where a broader Supply Chain Management background transfers and where it does not.

1. Implement the source to pay process

30-35%

The heaviest domain. It covers procurement categories, charge codes and purchasing policies, procurement workflows, vendor details and vendor collaboration, purchase agreements, over and under deliveries and delivery schedules, requisitions, requests for quotation, purchase orders and vendor returns.

Study move: Learn the four purchase agreement commitment types and what each one fixes (quantity, value, category value, or any value). Then walk one request for quotation from case to accepted bid, noting that the RFQ purchase type decides whether acceptance creates a purchase order or a purchase agreement.

2. Implement the inventory to deliver process

20-25%

Warehouse setup (sites, warehouses, locations, zones, work policies), location directives, wave, load and work templates, labels, receiving and shipping, inventory status, replenishment and movements, journals, transfer orders, cycle counting, load planning, cross docking and the full quality chain from nonconformance to quarantine order.

Study move: Build a one-page map of which setup object answers which question: wave templates decide when work is released, work templates decide what work looks like, location directives decide where, and work classes decide who can run it. Add the reservation hierarchy rule that dimensions above location are strict picking requirements.

3. Implement the order to cash process

20-25%

Order promising with ATP, CTP and sales lead time, unified pricing management, sales agreements, quotations, orders, reservations, returns, sales groups and commissions, intercompany orders and the supply chain fields on customer records.

Study move: Pair each delivery date control method with the kind of item it suits, then practice the unified pricing vocabulary: price attributes, attribute groups with header or line scope, price component codes, price structures and concurrency modes.

4. Implement the design to retire process

5-10%

Product strategy and master data: category hierarchies, lifecycle states, product attributes, storage, tracking and product dimension groups, item model groups, reservation hierarchies, unit sequence groups, product release, BOM versions, trade agreements, formulas, filter codes and standard cost activation.

Study move: Small weight, but this is where later domains inherit their traps. Know which dimension groups can still be changed once transactions exist and which cannot, and what an item model group controls.

5. Implement the forecast to plan process

1-5%

Forecast models, supply chain calendars, coverage groups and item coverage, master planning parameters, positive and negative days, action messages, time fences, safety margins, intercompany planning, running master planning and processing planned orders.

Study move: Memorize the coverage codes and be able to compute a Min/Max replenishment quantity by hand. One question here is worth less than one question anywhere else, so cap the time.

6. Implement the plan to produce process

1-5%

Production strategy (resources, routes, scheduling, costing sheets, co-products, by-products, scrap), planning production operations, production order lifecycle stages, batch reservations, production floor execution, picking list and job card journals, subcontracting and the Warehouse Management mobile app for production.

Study move: Learn the production order status ladder from Created to Ended and what reversing a status removes at each step. The bullet list is long, but the weight is the lowest on the exam.

How Many Hours Does AB-330 Need?

AB-330 needs about 30 hours of study on our baseline plan. The largest share, 10 hours, goes to source to pay, followed by 7 for inventory to deliver and 6 for order to cash. Design to retire gets 3, forecast to plan and plan to produce 1.5 each, and 1 hour covers scenario practice.

This allocation is ours, not Microsoft's. It follows the midpoint of each weight range, with a small bump for the two areas whose objective lists are unusually long relative to their weight, then reserves an hour for scenario practice.

Process areaSuggested hoursExam weight
Source to pay10 hrs30-35%
Inventory to deliver7 hrs20-25%
Order to cash6 hrs20-25%
Design to retire3 hrs5-10%
Forecast to plan1.5 hrs1-5%
Plan to produce1.5 hrs1-5%
Scenario practice and review of misses1 hrAll domains

If you already work in MB-330 territory: cut design to retire and the warehouse setup basics roughly in half, and move those hours to source to pay agreements and RFQs, order promising and unified pricing, and the quality chain.

If you are new to Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management: do the product master data hours first, because dimension groups and reservation hierarchies feed every later area. Add lab time in a demo environment; reading alone rarely sticks for setup-heavy objectives.

Where Candidates Slip: Distractor Patterns in Our Scenario Set

We wrote 13 scenario questions for the free AB-330 set and tagged each wrong option by the reasoning error it invites. These counts describe our own question set, not the real exam, which Microsoft does not publish. They are still a useful warning list, because each pattern comes from a documented behavior in the product.

PatternShare of our 13Typical form
Right feature, wrong scope or level3 of 13A commitment type that is too broad, an attribute group at the wrong scope, a cost dimension the system cannot track
Adjacent object in the same area3 of 13Wave template instead of location directive, solicitation type instead of purchase type, batch CTP instead of near real-time CTP
Placement or direction reversed2 of 13Batch dimension below location instead of above, rolling back a production status to the wrong intermediate step
Neighboring setting borrowed3 of 13Event blocking instead of quarantine on failure, manual coverage instead of a lifecycle state, a price-fixing policy confused with a maximum policy
Method matched to the wrong item type1 of 13ATP promised for an assemble-to-order product
Half-applied arithmetic1 of 13Min/Max replenishment quantity computed against the minimum instead of the maximum

The practical advice: when two answers both sound plausible, ask which object in the product owns the behavior in the question. Setup objects with similar names usually own different halves of one process. Work through the full set in the free AB-330 scenario questions, where each wrong option is explained.

Studying for an Exam Without a Practice Assessment

With no official practice assessment, the skills-measured list is your only blueprint. Turn each bullet into a question you can answer aloud: which object, which setting, which result. For anything setup-related, open the page in a demo environment and confirm where the setting lives.

Microsoft's study guide points to the Supply Chain Management documentation, Microsoft Learn training, the Dynamics community and the Exam Readiness Zone videos. After your first pass, check readiness with the AB-330 readiness quiz and keep the AB-330 cheat sheet open for decision tables.

Since scoring on a beta exam is delayed, plan your next step before exam day: whether you will wait for the result, when you will recheck Microsoft's page, and how you will keep notes fresh if you need to retake.

AB-330 Questions Candidates Ask

Is AB-330 a beta exam?

Yes. Microsoft's credential page for the Supply Chain Management AI Consultant Associate carries the beta label, checked 2026-10-26, and states that beta exams are not scored immediately because Microsoft is gathering data on the quality of the questions and the exam. The passing score is 700.

Is there an official practice assessment for AB-330?

Not currently. The credential page says the practice assessment is not available and that practice assessments are usually available within 8 weeks of the exam leaving beta and becoming generally available. Until then, study from the skills-measured list and Dynamics 365 documentation.

What is the difference between AB-330 and MB-330?

Both target the Functional Consultant role at the Intermediate level. AB-330 organizes its skills around six end-to-end process areas and lists Microsoft Copilot as a product on its credential page. MB-330 is the Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant credential, whose overview also names asset management, transportation management and landed cost.

Which AB-330 domain carries the most weight?

Source to pay, at 30-35% of the exam. Inventory to deliver and order to cash follow at 20-25% each, so those three process areas account for roughly three quarters of the weighting at the midpoints.

Do I need to know master planning and production in depth?

Less than the length of their objective lists suggests. Forecast to plan and plan to produce are each weighted 1-5%. Learn the coverage codes and the production order status ladder, then spend the saved hours on source to pay and warehouse topics.

What do the exam price, length and question count look like?

Microsoft's AB-330 study guide and credential page do not state a price, duration or question count (checked 2026-10-26). Confirm all three on Microsoft Learn before you schedule.

How long should I study for AB-330?

Our baseline is about 30 hours, split across the table in this guide. Candidates who configure Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management daily can often trim the warehouse and procurement hours; candidates new to the product should add hands-on lab time before the scenario practice.

This guide comes from the team that also sells AB-330 practice-exam access on this site, which is worth knowing before you weigh any claim above. Objectives as of 2026-10-26, from Microsoft's AB-330 study guide.
